More Information, it was to William MacTavish, Simon's son............witnessed by the Duke of Argyll!
Since, by means of the authentic instruments and documents produced before me and seen, read and duly considered before me, it is established clearly and is known that the late Simon MacTavish, armiger of Dunardry, father of William MacTavish, now armiger of Dunardry.
This is a quotation from a land grant to William MacTavish, ARMIGER OF DUNARDRY.......LOOK IT UP, that means he was recognized by the Duke of Argyll as holding the COA of Dunardry. This document was prepared by the law firm of James Ferrier and Company, and this was the law firm that represented the Lachlan Family. Sherriff Dugald MacTavish was apprenticed to this firm at the time.
